O'Connor Jones: A People's Law Office welcomes third year law student Ms. Kashayla Unis. Kashayla will be working on host of important issues, including civil rights, veteran's advocacy, and prisoners' rights. Kashayla Unis is a current J.D. candidate and rising 3L at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She is also a former Commissioned Army Officer and a combat, disabled veteran. Before entering the legal field, Kashayla served in the Army for 5 ½ years where she deployed once in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in 2013. Originally a Florida native, Kashayla attained her undergraduate degree from one of the top HBCUs in the U.S., Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, FL., with a B.S. in Criminal Justice. Kashayla is not only eager to join the legal field and is ready to help advocate on behalf of all historically marginalized persons and communities. She is also especially passionate about diversity and inclusion; civil rights; environmental law; and veterans law.
