BIO
Darren grew up in Oregon with a love of outdoor sports. Before attending college he became an amateur boxer and was awarded the Outstanding Novice Boxer of the year. He then studied electrical engineering and practiced in that field developing scientific instruments for more than two decades in Colorado. He has one teenage daughter and enjoys camping and singing around the campfire with his family.

Darren became increasingly involved in advocating for homeowners facing fraudulent foreclosures during the Great Recession. Through his efforts with like-minded and committed advocates, he helped several vulnerable people keep their homes and became somewhat of an expert on Colorado foreclosure laws. The idea of becoming an attorney occurred to him at that time, and was further cemented as he joined in advocating for the basic rights of people experiencing homelessness. In 2016, he started law school at the University of Denver and was awarded the coveted Chancellor Scholarship.

Darren was the President of the DU Law National Lawyers Guild Chapter, and helped author "Too High a Price 2: Move on to Where?" detailing the impact of laws and policies that target unhoused people in Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Denver.

Darren is currently the NAACP Boulder County Criminal Justice Committee Chair and was Co-Regional Vice President of the National Lawyers Guild Southwest Region in 2019 and 2020. He is currently the board chair for the nonprofit Feet Forward, an organization that advocates for and serves people experiencing homelessness.

Darren has turned his passion for advocacy on behalf of those facing injustice into a profession and finds it deeply rewarding to advocate as your legal counsel when needed.
